Philip “Brave” Davis: Global Impact Leader of the Year at the Men of Honor Awards

Philip “Brave” Davis, the fifth Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas was awarded the by Onxy Magazine at a five star event at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Florida on Saturday night.


It was a star-studded event of Who’s Who in Orlando along with a large Bahamian contingent that brought the house down.


Prime Minister Davis was led into the ballroom by a Junkanoo contingent that started the night off in a frenzy.



27 outstanding Men of Honor were awarded at this gala event that has become the biggest social event in Orlando for African Americans.


The event was attended by several prominent Bahamians including the Minister of Education, Glenys Hanna-Martin, Minister Pia Glover-Rolle, Minister Jomo Cambell, High Commissioner Leslia Miller-Brice, Ambassador to the US, Wendall Jones, Consul General Curt Hollingsworth and many other noteworthy Bahamians who wanted to witness this historic affair and the Prime Minister’s first international award.


The event was a two-day event that started with a lavish reception at the Capen House and Museum in Winter Haven, Florida. That reception was sponsored by The Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board headed by Joy Jbrilu who was unable to attend but was represented by Nikia Deveaux.


The Men of Honor Awards is a yearly gala event that recognizes outstanding African-American men who have made significant contributions in their respective areas.


The Men of Honor Awards gala has now expanded internationally by the inclusion of the Bahamian Prime Minister and also two others from the UK and the Caribbean. It was truly an international affair that was heavily influenced by The Bahamas.
