‘Split Pease Soup’ back on FNM Menu to keep Minnis out as Leader and tolerate Pintard; the born lose

Will the FNM go to Court on the possibility of a National Convention this year?

The three distinct factions; which make up the party, are at a crossroads. Dr. Minnis can’t take last. He knows his political enemies in the party have him for the laughing stock. His former allies like Dr. Nigel Lewis and Olvin Rees are not taking his calls. He has found some degree of support in playing pork barrel politics with various indigent personalities in various FNM constituency associations.

Word is these people are taking his funding and telling the other side, they are collecting what is owed them.

But Pintard presents his own slew of issues.

“He knows it all and facts prove he knows nothing.

“He has never learned how to politically and socially engage with the party and to date all his successes in the organization came about because he was laced to a power broker’s coat tails.

“FNMs find Pintard to be quite unlike anything they ever experienced.

“Cecil was mean. Cecil was so mean you could not get a cigarette off him. But we loved him because he was Cecil. Pintard has this perception that it’s all about him and what is going on in his mind. He can’t get the two Grand Bahama sitting Members of Parliament on board with him. Minnis knows these weaknesses and he is exploiting them.

“It’s back to the old joke about the FNM in the 70s. What did Cecil and Bostwick and Isaacs order for lunch at Britleys Restaurant, in Bain Town? Answer. The Split Peas Soup.”

How the party got here is very simple. Dr. Minnis has reeved up his Leadership campaign and is hitting the Family Islands and making promises to assumed New Providence delegates on how many hands they can put in the cookie jar if he becomes Prime Minister again.

The real problem is Dr. Minnis is unsure of whether he can win important and crucial officer positions in Convention which will be required to hold power.

And whilst he is independently wealthy he is discovering that his brand of politics will wipe out Fort Knox.

Hubert Ingraham is quietly holding the line for Michael Pintard. Peter Turnquest is galvanizing in Grand Bahama against any FNM Member of Parliament who thinks they can break ranks and depose Pintard as Leader of the Official Opposition and crown Dr. Minnis.

Pintard is the beneficiary of the permanent discomfort and displeasure many high ranking long time FNMs have with Dr. Minnis. These FNMS quietly admit that Pintard lacks the persona or skill to lead a government and voters are getting the hang of how lost Pintard would be.

“This guy is living on Cloud 99. Not a glimpse of political reality or any understanding of how anything works. He thinks you promote and declare a policy in black and white and that policy will come to life and make things happen. FNM thinkers are dumbfounded on how absolutely silly and infantile Pintard is. But they don’t want Minnis. Their digestive system is in fluke. So it’s just a matter of time before the bowels and intestines began backing up into the blood system of the party,” a source said.

“Dr. Sands is really our best choice but he is a dithering political imbecile.”
